Supercharge Innovation

WIKIPEDIA: “A supercharger is an air compressor that increases the pressure or density of air supplied to an internal combustion engine. This gives each intake cycle of the engine more oxygen, letting it burn more fuel and do more work, thus increasing power. Power for the supercharger can be provided mechanically by means of a belt, gear, shaft, or chain connected to the engine’s crankshaft. When power is provided by a turbine powered by exhaust gas, a supercharger is known as a turbosupercharger– typically referred to simply as a turbocharger or just turbo.”

“combustion engine” = the existing way people innovate

“intake cycle” = feedback from the market (as a systematic process)

“oxygen” & “fuel” = feedback and intrinsic motivation

“belt, gear, shaft, chain”= implementation of “drivers”‘ ideas, asking them for more ideas, benchmarking with competitors, direct link with the customers

“increases the pressure or density of air supplied” = more motivation, own initiative

“exhaust gas” – byproducts, initially rejected innovative ideas, waste of a company (people, material resources, etc.)

How do you supercharge innovation in a company?

As you can see, you can not burn employees motivation in a closed chamber, you need a constant inflow of real, direct, on spot contact with the environment where they operate. No living organism on planet Earth ever evolved without such a constant input from its environment.

The environment supplies the infinite necessary flow of “air for the supercharger” to a company. Also, the company itself, as a living organism, supplies waste which may be used to ‘turbocharge’ its production of novel ideas.

The 1st principle here is: let the nature flow into our companies making innovation more real.

The 2nd principle here is: we can gain more innovative ideas by recycling our own waste.
